Our Story

Built by women who believed in what young women could become.

The San Diego Delta Foundation was founded in 1999 by members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated—women dedicated to public service and to opening doors for the next generation. What began as a shared commitment to leadership and community has grown into a foundation that has shaped the lives of young African American women across San Diego for more than twenty-five years.

At the heart of our work is the Leadership Development Intern Program: a program that surrounds young women with mentorship, leadership training, college readiness, and meaningful community engagement. Interns don’t just participate—they grow into confident, capable leaders who carry what they’ve learned into their schools, their careers, and their communities.

Today, that mission continues with the same purpose it started with: to invest in young women, strengthen families, and build a stronger community for generations to come.

Creating opportunities that empower young women and strengthen future generations.
Our Leadership

The women who lead the way.

Our mission is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors and Advisory Board—women committed to leadership, service, and the next generation of young women across San Diego.
